Heavy Mobile Equipment MechanicThis position is with the Directorate of Industrial Operations at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. The job is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. The work schedule is full-time with a travel requirement of 25% or less. The pay scale is WG 10 with a salary range of $34.71 - $40.55 per hour. The position is not eligible for telework, remote work, or relocation expenses. It is a permanent appointment with no promotion potential.The duties include diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic malfunctions on wheeled and tracked heavy mobile equipment, disassembling heavy vehicles, engines, transmissions, and final drives, installing reconditioned engines, transmissions, electrical harnesses, and hydraulic subsystems onto vehicles, overhauling major vehicular assemblies, components, and heavy-duty hydraulic systems, and conducting road testing and operational performance checks on completed wheeled and tracked vehicles.The requirements include obtaining and maintaining a Secret security clearance, completing a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter, possessing or obtaining a valid state Driver's License and a valid Department of War, Installation, or Federal Commercial Driver's License, and being able to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
